OUR COVID-19 Procedures

  1. Dancers and staff must pre-screen every time they attend the studio. The Health Check must be completed before dancers arrive for class. Parents/guardians can fill this out on behalf of a child. Families are responsible for ensuring that the answers have not changed between completing the screening and attending the studio.
  2. Everyone entering Elegance Ballet Studio must agree with, and follow, our “COVID-19 Health and Safety Plan“. Available below or by downloading the pdf. This plan may change at any time – an up to date version will always be posted on this page and at the studio. If you have any questions please email info@eleganceballet.com
  3. The health and safety of our studio and our community is a shared responsibility. Let’s all continue to do our part to keep our community safe and healthy. Thank you for staying vigilant with following all public health guidelines in the studio, at work/school, and in your day-to-day life. Your efforts make a difference to our community and our region.

Illness & Attendance

  • Dancers and staff are responsible for completing a self-assessment screening survey prior to attending the studio. The screening survey must be completed each day that the dancer or staff will be attending the studio. Click here to download the survey & COVOID-19 symptoms guidelines.
    • Do not come to the studio if you have any symptoms of COVID-19, have tested positive (and are not yet recovered), are currently awaiting a test result, or have been identified as a contact of positive COVID-19 case within the past 14 days.
    • Do not come to the studio if someone in your household has symptoms or has been identified as a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case and is waiting for a test result.
    • Do not come to the studio if you have travelled outside of Canada, or have travelled within Canada to an area with a high number of COVID-19 cases, within the past 14 days.
  • If experiencing any symptoms dancers and staff should seek medical guidance and testing as recommended.
  • Dancers and staff must follow medical guidance regarding return to activity after feeling unwell.
  • We reserve the right to take temperatures of anyone at the studio using non-contact infrared thermometers.
    • Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher (38 degrees Celsius or higher) and will be kept separated until their guardian or emergency contact can pick them up.
  • Dancers that are unable to attend in person or who wish to do a make-up class may make arrangements to attend a class virtually instead. These arrangements need to be made with the studio director at least 24 hours in advance.

Students

  • Students must come dressed and ready for class. Students with back-to-back classes in different styles should wear the most appropriate attire for both classes.
  • Students should bring the absolute minimum inside the studio. No overloaded dance bags, school bags, books, etc.
  • Students should bring their own, clearly identified or labeled, water bottle already filled with water.
  • If attending back-to-back classes with a break included students may bring their own snack (no peanuts). No food or beverage sharing is permitted.
  • Students with multiple classes, that are not back-to-back, must leave the studio until their next scheduled class time.

Masks / Face Coverings

  • Masks are to be worn by anyone, age 2 and above, while inside the dance studio. Exemptions apply only for those unable to wear a mask (please notify the studio of this in advance) or if staff are working alone in the studio.
    • Students are requested to wear their mask the entire time they are in the studio, including while actively engaged in dancing. If students need to remove their mask during class they will sit in an area that maintains a minimum 2m distance from others until they are ready to resume class with their mask on.
  • Masks may be removed for brief water breaks or snacks as required. Everyone must maintain their minimum distance of 2 metres during these instances.

Studio Access

  • The entrance, bathrooms, and studio will be limited to students, teachers, and any other staff.
  • Drop-off and pick-up only. All parents/guardians, siblings, and family members must wait outside of the studio.
  • Everyone entering the premises must use hand sanitizer or wash their hands upon entering.
  • All lost and found items will be disposed of at the end of each business day.

Drop-off & Dismissal

  • Students will enter through the studio door when they are invited to enter by their dance teacher. Entrance will take place no more than 5 minutes before their scheduled class time.
  • Students will sanitize their hands when they enter and place their shoes and personal belongings before proceeding to one of the marked dance spots.
  • Parents/guardians of younger dancers should approach the glass door or window so that their dancer knows they have arrived for pick-up.
  • Please be mindful of our neighbouring businesses when you park for drop-off and pick-up or if you are waiting in your vehicle during your dancer’s class.

Classes

  • In order to maintain physical distancing, individual class sizes will be smaller and will be strictly limited.
    • Current class size maximum is 8 dancers plus a teacher and an assistant. Spots are available on a first come, first served basis.
  • Classes will be conducted with physical distancing in effect. Students must follow all distancing requirements during class as directed by the teacher and/or assistant. Inability to follow these requirements will result in the dancer being removed from class.
    • Each dancer will have their own marked dance space in the centre and at the barre. Teachers and assistants will also have their own distanced spaces.
    • If travelling steps are being done or students need more space then some dancers will stand along the side at marked distances while those steps are being performed by the other dancer(s).
  • Class times will include all arrival and dismissal procedures.
  • Dancers that are unable to attend in person or who wish to do a make-up class may make arrangements to attend a class virtually instead. These arrangements need to be made with the studio director at least 24 hours in advance.

Cleaning

  • Frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned and sanitized after every cohort (doors, barres, dance floor, faucets, etc).
  • The studio has a standalone HEPA air purifier as well as a UV air purifier to help improve air quality. The HVAC filters will also be changed regularly.
